The management of human resources is key to the success of modern organisations. This unit of study introduces economic concepts and analytical tools that provide a rigorous framework with which to analyse this challenge. Topics covered include the design of compensation schemes to achieve strategic goals; recruitment and hiring decisions; optimal turnover of staff; facilitating teamwork and worker empowerment; and, peer relationships within the modern business organisation.
