The academic year for research students is divided into four periods to provide flexibility in managing your candidature.
If you are a current research student, you are required to arrive in Sydney no later than 30 June 2023 to continue your study on campus. If you are unable to arrive in time to continue your studies, you will need to request leave from your research.
If you are commencing your research in Research Period 3, you are required to arrive in Sydney no later than 21 July 2023 to commence study on campus. If you are unable to arrive in time to commence your studies, you will need to defer your offer, or if you have already enrolled, request leave from your research.
The four research periods have fixed dates regardless of the calendar year or day of the week.
The Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (EFTSL) of each research period varies. A full-time student load is 1.0 EFTSL. A part-time load is 50% of the EFTSL of full-time students.
Research Period | EFTSL full time | EFTSL part time |
---|---|---|
Research Period 1 | 0.167 | 0.083 |
Research Period 2 | 0.333 | 0.167 |
Research Period 3 | 0.250 | 0.125 |
