Teaching area rules

First Teaching Area
A first teaching area in Modern History requires completion of a major or a minor from the History table of units of study.
Students must complete, as part of or in addition to, the major or minor, 6 credit points of ANHS-coded units; and 6 credit points of Australian history (i.e. a unit whose subject matter is wholly Australian, usually interpreted as units with “Sydney” or “Australia” in the title).
Second Teaching Area
A second teaching area in Modern History requires 24 credit points from the History table of units of study, comprising:
(i) a maximum of 12 credit points in 1000 level and a minimum of 12 credit points in 2000 or 3000 level units of study, of which 
(a) 6 credit points in ANHS-coded units of study
(b) 18 credit points in HSTY coded units, of which
(1) at least 6 credit points must be in unit(s) identified as Australian history. 
Modern History cannot be taken in conjunction with Ancient History as your other teaching area.
