Teaching area rules

First Teaching Area
A first teaching area in Spanish requires completion of a major or a minor from the Spanish and Latin American Studies table of units of study.  
Second Teaching Area
A second teaching area in Spanish requires 24 credit points of language units from the Spanish and Latin American Studies table of units of study, comprising: 
(i) a maximum of 12 credit points in 2000 level units of study in Spanish
(ii) a minimum of 12 credit points in 3000 level units of study in Spanish
If commencing at an introductory level in Spanish, a minor in Spanish and Latin American Studies can be completed for accreditation in Spanish as a second teaching area.  
For eligible units, please consult the tables of units of study for the subject areas of Spanish and Latin American Studies (Intermediate) and Spanish and Latin American Studies (Advanced) in this handbook. Availability of these units is subject to change.
