Specialisation

The information on this page relates to the 2023 intake of this specialisation.

Our Thermofluids specialisation covers advanced and applied topics that build on the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.

It covers concepts and applications in turbulence, experimental fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, advanced heath and mass transfer, and thermal energy conversion.

This specialisation will offer you the knowledge and technical skills to analyse and innovate engineering devices and systems that rely on fluid flows and thermal systems to operate.

It also provides opportunities to engage in applications ranging from transport and propulsion, transport and propulsion, environmental water flows and management, power plant systems, ventilation and air conditioning, biomedical flows, pharmaceutical drug delivery flows and aerospace.

Graduate opportunities

As a graduate of our Thermofluids specialisation, you will posses the knowledge and skills necessary as a fluids engineer to progress into areas such as energy conversion, transport and propulsion, environmental flows, and biomedical flows and devices.

You may pursue a career designing and maintaining fluid-based mechanical systems such as complex hydraulic and pumping systems, or installing and repairing equipment used to extract water, oil, and natural gas from the earth.
