About this course

If you would like to further your career in project leadership through a short course, the Graduate Certificate in Project Leadership will suit you. This course is for experienced project managers and senior managers seeking to develop the critical complex thinking and communication skills required for successful project leadership.

Graduate certificates typically require six months of full time study or one year of part time study, with the option to progress to a master's program. If you enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Project Leadership you may apply to upgrade your award to the Graduate Diploma in Project Management if you maintain a credit average (65 percent or above).

What you'll study

Study plan for this course

Candidates for the Graduate Certificate in Project Leadership complete 24 credit points (cp) made up of foundational and specialist units of study, subject to meeting prior learning requirements and timetabling. Candidates may choose to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Project Leadership to pursue further study, subject to meeting progression requirements.

Classes are generally held in the evening between 6pm and 9pm to accommodate professionals who are employed during the day.

Admission criteria

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

  • an Australian bachelor's degree in any discipline and five years work experience, with a middle to senior project management position or similar or
  • a combination of industry certifications or college diplomas or equivalent qualification and five years professional work experience, with a middle to senior project management position or similar

For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution and qualification.

Future study options

The Graduate Certificate in Project Leadership can offer those without a recognised bachelor degree a pathway into the Graduate Diploma in Leadership and then possible progression to the master's program. Maintaining a credit average in the Graduate Certificate will allow you to upgrade your award to the Graduate Diploma.
